Review by Richard Tuliszewski

Live Moments We Shared by DeVision: A Synth-Pop Time Capsule from 1996 If you’re into electronic music with a heartbeat, Live Moments We Shared by DeVision is one of those albums that sneaks up on you. Released in ‘96 via Strange Ways Records (shoutout to Germany for always killing it in the synth scene), this record feels like an intimate diary entry wrapped in pulsing beats and moody melodies. It’s not perfect—nothing ever is—but damn if it doesn’t leave a mark. Let’s talk tracks. First off, there’s “Moments We Shared,” which hits different every time I hear it. The way the synths swell and recede? Pure magic. It’s nostalgic but not in a cheesy "throwback playlist" kind of way—it's more like remembering someone you haven’t seen in years, equal parts warmth and ache. You can almost picture the dimly lit clubs where this track would’ve been blasting back in the day. Then there’s “Dress Me When I Bleed,” which is just… wow. Darker, edgier, dripping with atmosphere. That bassline? Chef’s kiss. If songs could wear leather jackets, this one would strut around looking cooler than everyone else at the party. The rest of the album keeps the vibe going strong too. Tracks like “Like A Sea Of Flames” and “Your Hands On My Skin” are hauntingly catchy, while “Blue Moon” brings a dreamy vibe that makes you wanna stare out a rainy window and think about life choices. Even the lesser-known cuts like “Endlose Träume” have their charm, even if your German vocab starts and ends with “danke.” What sticks with me most about Live Moments We Shared isn’t just the music itself—it’s how raw it feels. This wasn’t some big-budget studio project; it was crafted by people who clearly cared. Credit goes to Lorenz Macke for keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes (management AND booking? Dude earned his coffee breaks). And whoever designed the cover art deserves props too—though sadly, they remain a mystery. Maybe that’s fitting, though. Mystery suits this album. Here’s the thing: listening to this record feels like finding an old mixtape in the bottom of a drawer. It’s imperfect, kinda rough around the edges, but full of soul. In a world obsessed with polished playlists and algorithm-approved hits, Live Moments We Shared reminds us why we fell in love with music in the first place. Oh, and fun fact? Listening to this album might make you suddenly want to write poetry or dye your hair black. Don’t say I didn’t warn ya.
