Album Review: Summer All Over Again by Hind – A Nostalgic Journey Through Sound There’s something about Summer All Over Again that feels like opening an old photo album. Released in 2003 by Dutch artist Hind, this record blends pop, folk, world, and country vibes with a touch of Fado soulfulness. It's not perfect—heck, it doesn’t even try to be—but there’s heart here. And sometimes, heart beats polish any day. The standout track for me is “Fado-Mãe.” Man, this one hits different. You can tell they poured everything into it. The vocals are raw but smooth, kinda like honey drizzled over gravel. There’s pain in her voice, but also hope—a mix that makes you wanna close your eyes and just sit with the moment. I think what sticks with me most is how simple yet powerful the arrangement is. No flashy tricks, just honest storytelling through sound. If you’ve ever felt homesick or missed someone so bad it hurt, this song will wreck you (in the best way). Then there’s the title track, “Summer All Over Again (Something About Your Love).” This one sneaks up on you. At first listen, it feels like your typical summer anthem—light, breezy, maybe even forgettable. But give it time. That chorus? Sticky as syrup. Every time I hear those lines—"something about your love"—I’m transported back to lazy afternoons where nothing mattered except the sun on my face and good company. It’s nostalgic without being cheesy, which is harder than it sounds. Credit where it’s due: Fluitsma & van Tijn killed it on production. They didn’t overdo anything; instead, they let Hind’s voice shine while keeping the instrumentation grounded. Hats off to Henry for mastering too—it’s crisp without losing its warmth. Oh, and props to Hans-Peter van Velthoven for the photography. Album art matters, folks! What gets me thinking, though, is how music like this doesn’t come around much anymore. These days, albums feel more like playlists than cohesive stories. But Summer All Over Again? It’s got character. Like, if it were a person, it’d probably wear faded jeans, sip coffee slowly, and have a killer vinyl collection. So yeah, if you’re looking for something real—something that reminds you life isn’t always shiny but still beautiful anyway—give this album a spin. Just don’t blame me if “Fado-Mãe” makes you cry in public. P.S. Fun fact: Did you know BMG The Netherlands released this gem? Makes me wonder what other treasures are hiding in their vaults…
