Croatian schlager singer and composer born on January 29, 1923 in Garešnica, Croatia (The Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes at the time). Started career during WWII in Croatia singing on Croatian Radio. A pioneer of popular music in subsequent Yugoslavia, Robić was an artist who successfully pursued both domestic and international careers for almost half a century. When he began, he was the only artist from Yugoslavia whose records were available in the record shops of Europe and the rest of the world. Ivo Robić died in Rijeka, Croatia, on March 9, 2000.
