Mesrine - I Choose Murder

I Choose Murder by Mesrine: A Grindcore Gut-Punch That’ll Leave You Gasping for Air (and Maybe a Shower) Let’s get one thing straight—Mesrine’s I Choose Murder isn’t your grandma’s Sunday afternoon playlist. Released in 2005 under Crimes Against Humanity Records and Uranium Overdose, this Slovakian-American grindcore beast is like being hit by a runaway freight train full of broken glass and bad decisions. It’s raw, it’s relentless, and honestly? It’s kinda brilliant. First off, kudos to the lineup: Fred on guitar shredding like his life depends on it, Jack handling bass duties AND recording (multi-tasking wizard!), Dan pounding drums hard enough to wake the dead, and Crocko bringing some guest vocals that sound like Satan gargling nails. Vladimir Vacovsky’s artwork? Perfectly unsettling. And props to Nekrovalium for layout/design because nothing screams “chaos” quite like their aesthetic choices here. Now, onto the tracks. With song titles like Armin Meiwes Pt. I & II, Gary Ridgway, and Shot To Death, you already know this album doesn’t mess around. These aren’t love songs; they’re more like hate letters written in blood. Two tracks stood out to me, though—not just because of their brutality but because they stuck in my brain like gum on a hot sidewalk. Take Armin Meiwes Pt. I. If you don’t know who Armin Meiwes is, Google him later—and maybe clear your browser history afterward. This track slams into you faster than Meiwes’…uh, let’s call it “questionable culinary habits.” The riffs are jagged, the blast beats feel like machine-gun fire, and Crocko’s vocals? Pure nightmare fuel. By the time it ends, you’re left breathless, wondering what fresh hell awaits next. Spoiler alert: Part II doubles down on the carnage. Then there’s Moose. Don’t ask me why—it could be about an actual moose or possibly someone named Moose—but damn if it doesn’t rip. Fred’s guitar work here is wild, all squealing harmonics and palm-muted fury. Meanwhile, Dan-Charge’s backing vocals add this extra layer of chaos, like a brawl at a dive bar where everyone forgot why they were fighting in the first place. What makes I Choose Murder unforgettable isn’t just its technical prowess—it’s the sheer audacity of it all. Mesrine took grindcore’s usual aggression and dialed it up to nuclear levels. Sure, it’s not for everyone. If you prefer your music soft and cuddly, this ain’t it. But if you like your tunes as brutal as last week’s hangover, you’ll dig this. Final thought? Listening to I Choose Murder feels like surviving a car crash—you walk away bruised, shaken, and weirdly exhilarated. Oh, and fun fact: Did you notice René Michaud shows up twice in the tracklist? Coincidence? Or did Mesrine just REALLY have beef with poor René? Either way, hats off to them for keeping us guessing. So grab your headphones, crank the volume, and prepare yourself for 20 tracks of pure grindcore mayhem. Just don’t blame me when your neighbors start complaining—or calling the cops.

Interesting fact about Album

Here’s a fun fact: The album *I Choose Murder* by Mesrine is a wild mix of grindcore chaos and dark storytelling. It’s not just music—each track is named after real-life criminals or cases, like Gary Ridgway and Armin Meiwes. Imagine headbanging to songs about infamous murderers! Released in 2005, it was a joint effort between labels from the US and Slovakia. Oh, and get this: Crocko, who handled guest vocals on a few tracks, also played bass for another band. The artwork? That came from Vladimir Vacovsky, adding his own eerie touch to the whole package. Pretty intense, right?
