UMA by Progenie Terrestre Pura: A Sonic Collision of Black Metal and Brain-Melting Electronics Let’s get one thing straight—UMA isn’t your typical album. Released in 2013 by the Italian duo Progenie Terrestre Pura (PTP for short), this record is like that weird cousin at family reunions who insists on bringing their pet tarantula. It doesn’t care about fitting in; it just is. And somehow, it works. Blending black metal with IDM (Intelligent Dance Music) feels like throwing a blender full of broken glass and glitter into a thunderstorm—it shouldn’t make sense, but holy crap, does it ever. The band hails from Italy, and you can tell they were probably raised on equal parts espresso and existential dread. Label Avantgarde Music knew what they were doing when they signed these guys. This isn’t music to chill to; it’s music to question your life choices to. Now, let’s talk tracks. First up, “Sovrarobotizzazione.” If robots could feel anxiety, this would be their anthem. Eon’s glitchy electronics stab through layers of Nex’s guttural vocals, creating something both mechanical and horrifyingly human. You’re not sure whether to dance or curl up in a ball under your desk. Either way, it sticks with you long after the last beat fades out. I mean, seriously, how do you even describe sounds like this? Imagine if an alien downloaded all of Nine Inch Nails’ discography onto its spaceship computer, then tried to play it back while being attacked by space wolves. Yeah, that’s “Sovrarobotizzazione.” Then there’s “La Terra Rossa Di Marte,” which might as well translate to “Red Dirt Daydreams on Mars.” This track hits different. It starts off slow, almost meditative, before exploding into a chaotic swirl of synths and distorted growls. There’s something oddly cinematic about it, like you’re wandering across a desolate Martian landscape while questioning why humanity thought colonizing another planet was a good idea. Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. But damn, does this song capture the vibe. The artwork deserves a shout-out too. Francesco Gemelli and Alexander Preuss nailed it—a mix of sci-fi surrealism and dystopian vibes that perfectly matches the soundscapes inside. Kudos to Tryfar for the layout too; everything looks cohesive without feeling overdone. So yeah, UMA is wild. It’s messy, experimental, and occasionally feels like listening to someone hack into your brain and rearrange your thoughts. But hey, isn’t that what great art should do? Leave you a little unsettled, maybe even confused, but definitely thinking about it days later? Final thought: Listening to UMA makes me wonder if Elon Musk secretly listens to PTP while planning his next SpaceX launch. Something tells me he’d dig the whole "robots vs. humans" vibe going on here. Or maybe he’d just use it as fuel for his supervillain lair playlist. Who knows?

Allevano crisalidi, capsule di vita
Immortali ma immobili.
Crescono codici, respirano in serie
Il tempo si ferma.
Anime si slegano dai freddi corpi
Loro cercano di tenerle salde
Evitare la ruggine dei chiodi del tempo
Crisalidi di vita !
Il nostro viaggio
La nostra vita
La morte, infine la morte.
Progenie terrestre pura
Corpi nati imperfetti,
Progenie terrestre pura
La vita è un respiro !
La vita è un respiro !
