Album Review: Life Is Stored On A Crystal Chip Buried Within Earth by Quickening, The Alright, so I just spent some quality time with Life Is Stored On A Crystal Chip Buried Within Earth by Quickening, The. Released under the Perelandra label, this album is... well, it’s kinda like if you took a bunch of feelings you didn’t know you had and shoved them into a blender set to "cosmic." It's not perfect, but dang if it doesn't stick in your brain. First off, let me talk about “Neon Echoes” (or at least that’s what I’m calling it because track titles can be hard to pin down here). This one hits different—it starts slow, almost sleepy, with these synth pads that feel like they’re hugging you from another dimension. Then BAM! Outta nowhere comes this beat that feels like running through a neon-lit city in a cyberpunk fever dream. You don’t expect it, but once it kicks in, you’re hooked. Like, I caught myself nodding along while pretending to understand my life choices. That contrast between chill vibes and sudden energy is wild enough to keep replaying. Then there’s this other track—I think it might be called “Crystal Static”? Not sure, but whatever its name, it’s got this haunting vocal loop that sounds like someone whispering secrets into staticky radio waves. It’s eerie as heck, but also kinda comforting? Weird combo, right? The whole thing builds up slowly until it feels like you're floating in space or drowning in an ocean—depends on how deep you wanna go with it. Honestly, every time I hear it, I zone out for a sec, thinking about random stuff like old memories or why toast always lands butter-side down. This album isn’t for everyone. Some parts drag a bit, and yeah, sometimes it feels like they were making it up as they went along. But isn’t that part of the charm? It’s messy, unpredictable, and honestly kind of beautiful in its own weird way. Here’s the kicker though: after listening to this album, I started wondering if maybe we are all stored on some crystal chip buried deep inside Earth. What if aliens are vibing to our lives like we vibe to music? If that’s true, I hope they skip the boring bits where I stare at walls for hours. Anyway, check this album out if you want something that’ll mess with your head in the best possible way. Just don’t blame me if you start hearing whispers in the static afterward.
