Album Review: A Három by Rómeó Vérzik – Hungary’s Forgotten Hard Rock Gem (1969) If you’re into raw, unfiltered rock with a side of Hungarian charm, A Három by Rómeó Vérzik might just be your next rabbit hole. Released in 1969 on EDGE Records, this album is like that vintage leather jacket you find at a thrift store—scratchy at first, but once you break it in, it feels like home. With its hard-rock swagger and pop/rock hooks, it’s the kind of record that makes you wonder why more people don’t talk about Hungarian rock from the ‘60s. Let’s dive in, shall we? The Tracks That Stick Now, I’m not gonna lie—this album has tracklist issues. Some songs are repeated under slightly different names (looking at you, "Trójai Faló" and "A Három..."), which feels like when your drunk mate insists on telling the same story twice. But hey, repetition ain’t always bad if the tunes are solid. And oh boy, some of them really slap. Take "Kalózhajó" (translation: Pirate Ship). It’s got this groovy bassline courtesy of Koppány that’ll have you nodding along before you even realize you’ve started swaying. Then there’s Ríkó’s vocals—he sounds like he’s been chewing gravel for breakfast, but in the best way possible. Paired with Nagy Dávid’s acoustic guitar riffs sneaking in like an unexpected guest at a party, the song builds up to this chaotic crescendo that screams freedom. Or maybe pirates. Either way, it’s catchy as hell. Another standout? "Fényt a Fejekbe!" (translation: Light Into the Heads!). This one hits differently—it’s angsty, punchy, and feels like someone yelling at you to wake up and smell the coffee. The lyrics, penned by Koppány, are cryptic enough to make you Google their meaning while still being oddly relatable. Is it about revolution? Self-discovery? Shouting at clouds? Who knows, but damn does it sound good blasting through your speakers. Behind the Curtain Props where they’re due—the production team deserves a round of applause. Producer Nagy Dávid clearly knew what he was doing, balancing the chaos without sanitizing the grit. Hats off to engineer Czébely Csaba and Priskin Gábor too; they somehow managed to capture lightning in a bottle during sessions that probably involved copious amounts of pálinka. And let’s not forget Maráczi Péter, who handled everything visual—from cover design to graphics. His work gives the album a cohesive vibe that screams “we didn’t try too hard,” which ironically makes it feel authentic. Final Thoughts A Három isn’t perfect. It’s messy, loud, and occasionally repetitive—but so is life. And honestly, isn’t that part of its charm? Listening to this album feels like stumbling upon a secret treasure chest buried deep in Hungary’s musical history. So here’s my hot take: If aliens ever invade Earth and demand proof of humanity’s artistic brilliance, I’d hand them A Három. Not because it’s flawless, but because it’s real. Oh, and also because aliens probably dig pirate ships and existential crises. Rating: 8/10 – recommended for fans of obscure gems and anyone who loves rocking out to songs they can barely pronounce.

Interesting fact about Album

Did you know? The 1969 Hungarian rock album *A Három* by Rómeó Vérzik is a hidden gem of hard rock history. It’s wild to think that this record, bursting with raw energy and crafted during the height of the Cold War, came out of Hungary. The album’s creative chaos was captured under the watchful ears of producers Nagy Dávid and Ríkó, while Maráczi Péter’s striking cover art gave it a visual edge. Tracks like *"Kalózhajó"* and *"Fényt a Fejekbe!"* still resonate with fans of rebellious, guitar-driven sounds. And fun detail: Nagy Dávid not only produced but also played acoustic guitar *and* rattle! How’s that for multitasking?
