Review by Dylan Gallagher

Belladonic Haze’s Belladonic Haze Album Review: A Journey Through Timeless Sounds Released in 2012, Belladonic Haze by the UK-based band Belladonic Haze is a vibrant mix of Pop Rock, Classic Rock, and Soft Rock with just enough acoustic charm to keep things cozy. The album feels like a warm cup of tea on a rainy day—comforting yet unpredictable. With its roots firmly planted in Europe and the US, this self-titled debut doesn’t try too hard to reinvent the wheel but instead delivers an authentic experience that lingers long after the last note fades. One standout track is "She Loves To Argue (...But She Never Debates)." It’s catchy as hell, blending clever lyrics with Daniel Ingham’s soulful vocals. You can tell they had fun recording this one; it’s playful yet layered enough to make you hit repeat. The rhythm guitar work by Joel Morris ties everything together, giving the song a heartbeat that feels alive. And let’s not forget Sam Armstrong’s drumming—it’s punchy without being overbearing, like a good friend nudging you to pay attention. Another gem is "The Land That Time Forgot." This one leans more into classic rock territory, with Philip Stuttard showing off some seriously smooth lead guitar chops. There’s something nostalgic about it, almost cinematic, like those moments when you’re driving down an empty road and suddenly feel untouchable. David Ruocco’s basslines here are worth mentioning—they give the track a groove that sneaks up on you. By the second listen, you’ll find yourself humming along even if you don’t mean to. What makes Belladonic Haze special isn’t flashy production or groundbreaking innovation—it’s how genuine it feels. Every member brings their A-game, from Ingham’s heartfelt delivery to Stuttard wearing multiple hats as both engineer and guitarist. They clearly poured their hearts into this project, and it shows. Tracks like "Smoke And Mirrors" and "Getting Old" also deserve nods for their storytelling and emotional depth, though they might not grab you right away. If I’m being honest, the album isn’t perfect. Some tracks blend together a bit too much, and there are moments where you wish they’d taken bigger risks. But hey, who needs perfection when you’ve got personality? Reflecting on Belladonic Haze, it reminds me of why we still crave albums in this age of singles and playlists. It tells a story—not through grandiose concepts, but through little details stitched together with care. Listening to it feels like flipping through an old photo album, each song a snapshot of someone’s life. And honestly? That’s kinda beautiful. So go ahead, give it a spin. Just don’t blame me if “She Loves To Argue” gets stuck in your head for days.

We'd love to tour, so we might make it to Paris one day. Would be nice! We're just trying to save up enough money, amidst working on our second album. :)

Thank you, I really appreciate your kind words. We've put so much effort into producing and releasing the album by ourselves on a tight budget, so it means a lot when we receive a compliment like this. Hopefully it will be the first of many albums and hopefully you'll be able to see us live someday. Thanks again!

Quite possibly! I do love Nevermore. It's one of the first songs I ever learned on piano when I first started learning. I think I have a really rough cover of Nevermore somewhere that I recorded years ago!
