DJ Sneak - 3D Print

DJ Sneak’s 3D Print – A Techno Journey That Sticks With You If you’re into the kind of electronic music that feels like it’s been cooked up in a dimly lit Berlin basement, then DJ Sneak’s 3D Print is probably already on your radar. Released in 2018 under Pressure Traxx (Germany, obvs), this album dives deep into minimal techno and house vibes with just enough edge to keep things interesting. Co-produced by Blakkat and designed by Aoki & Matsumoto, the whole thing has this raw, gritty aesthetic that matches the sound perfectly. Now let me tell ya—this isn’t one of those albums where every track blends together after a while. Oh no. There are two tracks here that really stuck with me, for totally different reasons. First off, there’s “3D Print (Arnorac Jackyoass Version).” Man, this one hits hard right outta the gate. It’s got this pulsing beat that builds slowly but doesn’t mess around. You can feel the tension rising, like you’re waiting for something big to happen—and when it does? Pure release. The mix between Andrea Smith and Mark Thomas Bell’s writing chops and DJ Sneak’s production skills is insane. Every layer adds something new without overcomplicating things. I remember listening to this late at night, headphones on, and feeling like my brain was rewiring itself. Like, whoa, dude. Just… whoa. Then there’s “3D Print (Instrumental).” This version strips everything back to its core, letting the rhythm breathe. Sometimes less really is more, y’know? Without vocals or extra frills, the groove takes center stage, and honestly, it’s hypnotic as hell. It reminds me of walking through an empty city street at dawn—everything’s quiet, but there’s still movement beneath the surface. Not gonna lie, I’ve looped this track so many times I lost count. Feels like therapy for your ears. What makes 3D Print stand out isn’t just the beats—it’s how personal it feels. Even though it’s clearly club-ready, there’s a soulfulness hidden in the details. Maybe it’s because DJ Sneak knows exactly what works without trying too hard. Or maybe it’s the way Arnorac’s remixes add their own flavor without losing sight of the original vibe. Either way, this album sticks to you like gum on a hot sidewalk. Here’s the kicker though: halfway through writing this review, I realized I couldn’t stop tapping my foot. And not in some cliché “this music makes me wanna dance” way—but in a “holy crap, my body won’t stop moving” kinda way. Weird flex, but true. So yeah, if you haven’t checked out 3D Print yet, do yourself a favor and hit play. Just don’t blame me if you end up zoning out for hours. Trust me, your Spotify algorithm will thank you later.

One of the second wave of influential Chicago house producers and a member of the vanguard of late-'90s American house producers, DJ Sneak wasn't born in the Windy City but began listening to house soon after his family arrived from Puerto Rico in the early '80s. Because he could speak no English, Sneak gravitated to instrumental music (as well as graffiti art), and became inspired by Chicago legends such as and . Many of those early innovators had left Chicago for the East Coast by the late '80s, when Sneak was ready to start in the business; by 1992, however, had begun a resurgence in the city's classic sound by starting up . Sneak aided in the revolution with a series of singles on Cajual's sister label, the harder-oriented . Besides other productions for Strictly Rhythm, Henry St., ZYX, 83 West and Feverpitch (several of which feature on co-production, building on the Latin vibes of their heritage), DJ Sneak has also released mix compilations including 1996's Kinky Trax Collection and the following year's Buggin' Da Beats. He also worked in the Gramophone Records store in Chicago. Founder of the independent vinyl labels (1993), (2001) and (2002) as well as (1995) for promo releases plus digital only labels (2008) and (2008). In 1995 he established his own record store called "Sneak Beats" in Toronto (Canada) which sold underground house music on Vinyl and CDs from their store and by mail order. It closed down approximately 10 years later.
