Cervine Birth by The Ghost Of 313: A Sonic Dive into the Unsettled Alright, let’s talk about Cervine Birth. This album isn’t your typical "put it on in the background while you fold laundry" kind of deal. Nope. It’s more like that weird, unsettling dream you had last night—the one where everything felt both beautiful and kinda horrifying at the same time. Released under Not On Label (because, hey, rules are overrated), this record is a wild ride through soundscapes that feel ancient and futuristic all at once. First off, I gotta shout out track two, “Hollow Hoofprints.” Man, this one hits different. The opening drone creeps up on you like fog rolling in from nowhere, and then—bam!—these jagged synths slice through the air like they’re carving something alive. There’s no beat here, not really, but the rhythm lives in the chaos. You don’t just listen to “Hollow Hoofprints”; you survive it. And yet, there’s this strange comfort in its disarray, like staring at storm clouds and realizing how small you are. That track stuck with me because it doesn’t try too hard to make sense—it is the sense. Then there’s “Veil of Antlers,” which might as well be the emotional gut-punch of the album. Imagine standing alone in a forest at dusk, except the trees whisper secrets you can almost understand. The layered vocals here are haunting—not ghostly, exactly, but like someone calling to you from another dimension. What gets me most is how it builds so slowly, adding textures until you’re drowning in sound. By the end, my heart was racing for reasons I still can’t explain. Is it fear? Wonder? Both? Who knows, but damn if it didn’t leave a mark. What makes Cervine Birth stand out isn’t perfection—it’s rawness. These tracks aren’t polished gems; they’re fragments of something primal, stitched together with grit and guts. Listening to this album feels less like entertainment and more like bearing witness to some ritual you weren’t invited to but can’t look away from. And honestly? That’s what music should do sometimes—mess you up a little. So yeah, go ahead and spin Cervine Birth. Just don’t expect answers. Expect questions. Oh, and maybe lock your doors before hitting play… you never know what might come knocking when those hooves start echoing.
