When Love Slips Away by Margo And The Marvettes: A Soulful Time Capsule from 1967 Man, oh man, if you’ve never heard When Love Slips Away by Margo And The Marvettes, you’re missing out on something special. This little gem came out in ‘67, smack dab in the middle of Australia’s buzzing music scene, and it still hits like a warm hug wrapped in vinyl crackle. Released under Astor Records, this album is pure soul with a dash of pop and funk sprinkled in for good measure. It’s not flashy or overproduced—it’s just honest, raw emotion poured into every track. Now, let me tell ya about two songs that really stuck with me. First up, the title track “When Love Slips Away.” Wow. Just… wow. From the second those opening chords hit, it feels like someone reached right into your chest and gave your heartstrings a gentle tug. Margo’s voice? Unreal. She doesn’t just sing; she lives these lyrics. You can feel the ache, the longing, the bittersweet goodbye she’s singing about. It’s one of those tracks where you kinda forget everything else around you while it plays. Like, whoa, did I leave the stove on? Nope, don’t care—just let this song finish first. Then there’s “I’ll Be Home,” which flips the mood entirely. If “When Love Slips Away” breaks your heart, this one mends it back together again. It’s hopeful but not cheesy, y’know? That slow build-up, the way the horns sneak in like sunlight peeking through clouds—it gives me goosebumps every time. There’s something so comforting about the promise in her voice, like no matter how far away home feels, you’ll get there eventually. Honestly, it makes me wanna call my mom after listening to it (and maybe cry a little). What gets me most about this album is how unapologetically human it feels. These aren’t perfect studio performances scrubbed clean of personality—they’re real, lived-in moments captured on tape. Sure, some bits might sound rough around the edges compared to today’s slick production standards, but that’s exactly why it works. It’s messy, beautiful, and totally unforgettable. So here’s the thing: listening to When Love Slips Away feels less like hearing an old record and more like stepping into a time machine. But weirdly enough, as much as it belongs to 1967, it also feels timeless. Like, wouldn’t it be wild if aliens landed tomorrow and this was the first Earth song they heard? They’d probably think we were all romantic poets or something. Anyway, go find yourself a copy—you won’t regret it.

Fashions tribute act. :-(
Nice, but it's easy to copy a performance note-for-note than create one of your own from scratch..
