WT4TS - Friday Nights

Friday Nights by WT4TS: A Raw Indie Rock Gem That Stays With You You know those albums that just kinda sneak up on you? Like, one day you're scrolling through some random playlist, and suddenly this gritty little record from Spain punches you right in the feels. That’s Friday Nights by WT4TS for me—a scrappy indie rock masterpiece released back in 2012 under their own steam (no label drama here). It's not perfect, but damn if it doesn’t feel real. The band’s got this unpolished charm, like they’re playing just for you in some smoky basement bar. Jaume Carrera holds down bass and vocals with a voice that cracks in all the right places, while Enric Bastardas pounds the drums like he’s trying to outrun his own thoughts. And let’s not forget Joan Francesc “Frate” Aubets—he brings the lead vocals with this raw edge that makes you wanna scream along even when you don’t know the words. Now, I gotta talk about two tracks that stuck with me because, honestly, they won’t leave my head. First up is "Trapped Here." Man, this song hits different. The opening riff grabs you by the collar and doesn’t let go. Frate’s voice breaks into this desperate wail as he sings about being stuck—like, really stuck—in life. You can hear the frustration dripping off every word. When the chorus kicks in, it’s like a punch to the gut: “I’m trapped here / Can’t breathe.” I swear, there were days where I felt like this track was written specifically for me. It’s messy, loud, and chaotic—but isn’t that how life feels sometimes? Then there’s "Friday Night," which is ironic because it’s anything but your typical party anthem. This one slows things down, almost like the band needed a breather too. Carles Lafont’s guitar work shines here, weaving these melancholic lines that feel like watching rain streak down a windowpane. There’s something haunting about the way Frate delivers the line, “We’re chasing shadows in the dark.” It’s bittersweet, man. Like remembering a night out that ended way worse than it started, but still feeling nostalgic for it anyway. What gets me most about Friday Nights is how human it feels. These guys aren’t trying to reinvent rock—they’re just telling their stories, flaws and all. Tracks like “Emptyness” (yeah, spelled weird) and “Pull Yourself Down” have this DIY grit that reminds you music doesn’t need to be shiny to hit hard. But here’s the thing—I listened to this album during a time when everything seemed to be falling apart. Weirdly enough, hearing someone else sound so lost made me feel less alone. Maybe that’s what great music does—it meets you where you are, even if it’s at your lowest point. So yeah, Friday Nights might not change your life or whatever, but it’ll definitely stick around in your brain like an old friend who shows up uninvited but always knows what to say. Oh, and fun fact? Listening to this album makes me want to learn Spanish. Not sure why. Guess I’ll add that to my list of unfinished projects.

Interesting fact about Album

Here’s a cool fact: The album *Friday Nights* by WT4TS is a hidden gem in the indie rock scene. Released in 2012 in Spain, it was self-released under the label "Not On Label." What makes it special is how tight-knit the band feels. Jaume Carrera not only played bass but also shared vocal duties, while Joan Francesc "Frate" Aubets took on lead vocals.
