Comments
A considerable effort from this Zappa alumnus. Frank Zappa plays guitar on some of the tracks which makes it even more interesting. But Jeff Simmons and this very tight and talented band carry the day. Lots of great blues and rock cuts showcase Jeff Simmons as a strong songwriter as well as a very capable vocalist. Highlights of this exceptional album include "Appian Way", "Zondo Zondo (some Zappa influence here), the hard rocking "I'm In The Music Business", the bluesy "Raye" with Frank Zappa on lead guitar and the great "Wonderful Wino". Not a bad track on the LP. Lucille Has Messed My Mind Up is an obscure treasure on the iconic Straight label. A bit criminal that Jeff Simmons did not get the recognition he deserved. Not unlike many of the great artists. Seek this album out.
How on earth dos this have so little views
Jeff is great. Don't steal the towels Jeff! He was treated better by Frank than I thought.
psykedelic roll sounds zappa from the guitarr
I like it

I used to email back and forth with Simmons because we had a mutual friend. Anyone know if Jeff is doing well?
real Hippie
Really interesting songwriting on this album. Too unusual to be popular, I guess. Pity.
Are we still friends? I mean, is this your time or mine, or just a sudden-death play-off?

And it’s “...cat ‘o’ nine tails” not
“...cat AND nine tails”! It’s short for “cat of nine tails”...which was a type of multi strand whip.

This is the best track on the album. And Craig Tarwater's guitar playing is great ! He was also top on Arthur Lee's "Vindicator".
This is Jeff Simmons not Zappa.
I have added the lyrics into the description.
cause the only people who care are Zappa followers; Jeff Simmons was the one who walked out on 200 Motels but was back on Roxy & Else. This is an important piece of the puzzle as Conceptual Continuity in Zappa's Universe
1.Study the I-IV-V and all it's implicatons for at least 30 minutes. 2. Learn the 4 basic pentatonic wheedely-wee licks (I recommend Arlen Roth's "rock guitar for idiots" 3. Get stoned and listen to soem Cream right before Jack Bruce was incarcerated and Ginger puked heroin on his own vomit. 4. Get some sandwich hungry young men and have at it
Ah, I need a sandwich!
